STEPHEN MINISTRY -- What is Stephen Ministry?
Stephen Ministry expands the care St. Mark can offer by equipping and organizing lay members to provide Christian care. This gives us a larger pool of people with the gifts, skills, and calling to bring Christ's love and care to those who most need it. Stephen Ministry was recently featured on PBS’ Faith and Ethics television news program.
You can watch this 8 minute video feature about Stephen Ministry online on the PBS web site. Go to: http://www.pbs.org/wnet/religionandethics/episodes/april-9-2010/stephen-ministry/6044/

ABC SALE-- Save these Dates: August 8-14
Sign up to help in the Welcome Center
Sale takes place August 13 & 14.
The sign-up notebook is still in the Welcome Center. Please, if you can, we’d love to have you join us. The time is getting close. Marie and her group serve wonderful lunches and we have a good time. We promise you’ll also get to know many St. Mark people.
This year we have decided to pay kids directly who can help us, and we are asking that any middle and/or high school kids who would like to earn $7 an hour contact Joan Marshall or Ann Leonard.
Sunday, August 8, will be a work day. Load up your cars and bring all those wonderful items to church with you, and if you have time please presort according to the area they should go. Following church, we would appreciate your help in getting things inside, but we will also have workers that can help. The youth will be selling hot dogs, chips, and drinks for a donation.

If there is a group interested in selling coffee and/or doughnuts outside on Friday and Saturday morning, please let us know. We think it is a money making opportunity. |
A new policy of ABSOLUTELY NO SALES * prior to Thursday, August 12, has been established. Between 1pm and 3pm on Thursday, workers who have nametags issued by department chairs indicating they have worked at least 4 hours may buy items. At this time staff may also buy items. Yes, we all want bargains, but our goal is really to serve God and to provide for missions and church upkeep. Please do not embarrass department chair people by asking for special consideration.
* Books will be an exception to the NO SALES policy. Our book space is very limited. Diana will be selling books in the library at her discretion.
Please keep us in your prayers. We want God’s blessing for a safe and happy sale.
